Played here 10-19-13 as part of a group, and this was an outstanding choice. The whole atmosphere, from the time one drives into the surrounding development, is first-class. Great looking clubhouse, attentive staff, and even the golf carts were in top shape.

Only minor complaint I have is that the scorecard has no layout diagrams, nor is there anything at the tee boxes, to give a sense of the hole. I strongly recommend driving up to take a look before hitting if you're a first-timer: may add a few minutes to the round, but it'll pay off.

Design is excellent: each hole stands alone, separated from its bretheren by a band of trees. Some modest elevation change, but more than most coastal courses. Greens are quite large, most are tilted, and some have very significant undulations. Bunkers are plentiful, and can be daunting, so choose your shot wisely. Fairways are pretty generous, although there are a couple with gentle bends that will tempt the bold (or stupid) to try to fly the corner: be sensible!

Conditions on 10-19 were excellent: fairways are thick and lush, tee boxes were in fine shape, and greens were firm and fast. Despite being generally flat, I don't recommend walking the course (or if they even allow it), as there is significant distance between some green and tees.

One other note: this course is well north of the "Myrtle Beach" area. We were lodged in Sunset Beach, NC, at Sea Trail, and this course was suppposed to be "twenty minutes away," but that turned out to be more like 55 minutes. It's an excellent facility and worth the drive, but check Google maps or Mapquest, to verify drive times before setting out.

Having said all that, I highly recommend!
